Principal Scientist, Operations Research & Decision Science- R&D DDSAI - Therapeutics Development & Supply (TDS)

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Principal Scientist in Operations Research and Decision Science to design and deploy simulation, optimization, and decision-support tools for therapeutic development and supply chain operations. The role combines mathematical modeling expertise with software engineering discipline to solve complex portfolio, manufacturing, and clinical supply problems.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and solve optimization problems for portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, capacity planning, and scheduling
- Design and validate digital twins and simulations of development, manufacturing, and clinical supply operations
- Develop robust, reusable modeling workflows using Python and modern scientific computing tooling
- Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate models into enterprise data systems and operational workflows
- Mentor colleagues and provide technical direction on modeling approaches and best practices
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative field
- 5+ years applying optimization, simulation, or stochastic modeling to complex operational problems
- Demonstrated depth in mathematical programming, discrete-event simulation, stochastic optimization, or resource allocation
- Strong Python programming and experience with optimization frameworks (Pyomo, Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools)
- Experience with simulation tools (SimPy, AnyLogic, Simio, Arena) or equivalent platforms
- Ability to translate business problems into rigorous computational models and communicate results to diverse audiences
