OVERVEIW: Responsible for providing outpatient psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Deliver culturally relevant quality services within the framework of the mental health recovery model. Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team and does related work as required.

Essential Functions of the Job:

1. Provides individual, couples, child/family counseling, group facilitation, crisis response, and related mental health services to individuals enrolled in programs at Lower Elwha Health Department and/or its affiliates.
2. Performs clinical duties at or above established standard of practice, integrating evidence-based models within a culturally relevant framework, according to established LEMH policies and procedures. 
3. Provides assessments that meet auditing requirements, including DSM-V TR diagnosis.
4. Collaborates with clients to develop, implement, and maintain strengths-based treatment plans aimed at achieving goals, increasing safety and improving quality of life. 
5. Integrates mental health and substance use recovery principles into clinical practice.
6. Ensure prompt, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency, tribal, state, and federal guidelines via the electronic medical record. 

1. Responds to phone calls, emails, and other communication in a timely manner for the benefit of clients and to maintain positive relationships with clients, families, colleagues, and other professionals. 

1. Seeks consultation from peers and supervisor as needed. 
2. Participates in individual and group supervision as indicated. 

1. Maintain a schedule that meets productivity standards, and includes time for case management tasks. 

1. Works as part of a mental health team to participate in meeting the objectives of the Lower Elwha Mental Health Program. 

1. Participate in weekly team meetings to receive and offer professional enrichment and development. 
2. Participates in case presentations by presenting cases and giving feedback to others. 

1. Maintains professional boundaries with clients and staff, while integrating into the community in a collaborative, trustworthy manner. 

1. Complies with all program specific, Tribal, state, and federal confidentiality policies and laws. 
2. Communicates with other agencies and professionals in a respectful, coherent manner to maintain positive working relationships and clear expectations. 

1. Maintains a professional image within the community at all times.
2. Participates in program planning and development as needed.
3. Serves on LEHD committees as assigned; participates in activities and related community support services as requested.
4. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Must have a master’s degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a closely related field. 
2. Must hold an unrestricted, Washington State license as one of the following: Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or qualify as a licensed associate. 
3. Must have 1 year of professional experience providing counseling and/or group services to individuals and families, some of which may have been obtained prior to completion of a master’s degree. 
4. Abides by the ethics set forth by the American Counseling Association code of ethics, or respective licensing body. 
5. Experience working with multi-ethnic and multi-age populations of all socio-economic strata in outreach, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy. Experience in addressing issues of sexual assault, domestic violence, and substance use is highly desirable. 
6. A working knowledge of mental health treatment facilities and their treatment modalities in Clallam County and throughout Washington State.
7. Provides advocacy, support services, information, and referral to promote the delivery of substance use treatment, medical/psychiatric care, housing, employment, and educational services as indicated. 
8. Basic knowledge and willingness to learn more about concepts of indigenous culture, Native American tribal status, and historical trauma. 
9. Must be able to comply with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe’s Drug Free Workplace policy. 

Other Considerations:

1. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. 

1. Must be able to pass a urine toxicology screen for substance of abuse. 

1. Some flexibility in work hours may occasionally be needed.

7. Knowledge of community resources and referral/follow-up processes.
8. Strong written and oral communication skills.
9. Basic computer proficiency.
