Automation & Controls EngineerOur office in Richardson, TX is looking for an Automation & Controls Engineer who will collaborate with a broader team of engineering professionals to provide engineering services on complex capital improvement projects for industrial and manufacturing clients across the country. Specifically, we need someone to design automation and controls systems for heavy industrial projects.Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):Instrumentation design on projects for new plants and existing plant upgradesDesign and develop control panels for industrial systems and manufacturing operationsDesign, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment and plants that use Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's)PLC and HMI programming for various types of plant processesWork with other project team members to foster a continuous learning environmentParticipate in on-site systems and facilities inspections for customersPerform on-site commissioning and start-ups of plant controls systemsGuide the work of Designers on the project teamReview and check the work of others on the project teamBe able to analyze plant processes and help make improvements based on their knowledge of electronics, engineering, and mechanicsSupport business development and proposal efforts providing technical scope, budget, and scheduling informationBegin to establish industry ties at the technical, professional, and commercial levelPerform other responsibilities as assigned or deemed appropriate of the position by managementTo succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science2-10 years of experience in instrumentation design and/or controlsSpecific experience in instrumentation and controls design in a manufacturing settingPLC and HMI programming experience on the Allen Bradley platform (Required)Wonderware and Ignition experience (Required)Red Lion, Crimson and Simatic step7 (Siemens) knowledge is a plusAutoCAD experience (Required)Willing to travel, as needed (up to 30%)Multi-discipline project leadership experienceAdaptable, striving to find creative solutions to problems as they arise and assist in the implementation processAble to identify and provide reliable solutions for technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the processThis role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive U.S. based benefits package, including:Medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysWellness programs and employee assistance resourcesProfessional development supportFor more information, visit our full benefits overview here.Salas O'Brien provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state/provincial, or local laws.
