Job Description:

Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies and evaluates electrical/electronic parts, components, sub-systems, algorithms, or integrated circuitry for electrical/electronic equipment and other hardware systems. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in power delivery architecture development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, designs, and techniques used in production. May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. This role will be on-site in Sunnyvale, 3+ days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Establishes and defines organization-wide architecture and methodologies for power hardware design, with development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit, contributing to technology roadmaps.
• Makes recommendations regarding emerging power technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap.
• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards.
• Drives the integration of valuable recommendations, updates, and innovations into the overall architecture and leads the platform architecture process across the business.
• Takes a leadership role providing guidance and mentoring to less‑experienced team members, setting an example of electrical hardware design, as well as development innovation and excellence.
• Lead assigned Board Mount Power projects and Front-End Power projects from architectural definition through design, validation, and manufacturing release.
• Drive technology development, design standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Power Systems Development organization.
• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing and/or engineering organization.

Education and Experience Required:

This role will be on‑site in Sunnyvale, 3+ days a week. Qualified candidates should have a 12+ years related Power Design Engineering experience, with BSEE degree minimum and MSEE being a plus. Experience with liquid‑cooled power systems and high‑voltage architectures, including ±400 VDC/ 800 VDC input systems, is highly desirable. Solid experience with schematic capture and simulation tools (including SPICE) is essential. Familiarity with multilayer PCB Layout tools and techniques, as well as power development CAD tools such as Cadence Sigrity PowerDC is required. Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as I2C/PMBus as well as firmware design experience are highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills:

Technical leadership and industry influence – Active participation in industry councils, technical committees, standards organizations, or other technical bodies that develop, influence, or define power‑related specifications and standards for networking, telecommunications, and data center products. Strong understanding of industry standards, emerging power technologies, and power architecture requirements for networking and data center systems. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, ability to design for cost and innovate. Experienced in overall architecture of electronic hardware for networking products and solutions. Has knowledge in designing and integrating electronic components, integrated circuitry, and algorithms into overall architecture. Evaluating, proposing, and selecting forms of empirical analysis, modelling and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management to be used across the organization. Has a history of innovation with multiple patents in the field of electronics. Possesses electronic/electrical design skills, as well as circuit design, test, and verification skills. Knows how to use CAD design tools and software packages for PCBA board design. Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills; mastery in English and local language, with an excellent ability to communicate nuanced concepts and influence in written and oral communication with a broad vocabulary. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options/results at business unit and executive levels.

Salary:

The expected salary/wage range for this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. United States of America: Annual Salary USD 181,000 - 367,000 in California. The listed salary range reflects base salary. Variable incentives may also be offered.
