Lecturer AY - Art (Visual Communication Design)

Position Part‑time Lecturer in Visual Communication Design for the Department of Art, College of Environmental Design, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open; positions are filled as needed based on enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. Fall term begins late August through mid‑December; Spring term mid‑January through mid‑May; summer sessions may also be available. Subject areas include Visual Communication Design foundations, Typography, Branding and Identity Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Web and Interaction Design, Motion Graphics, Packaging Design, Design Thinking, and Fine Arts. Responsibilities Teach assigned division courses as scheduled in the department’s curriculum. Conduct weekly office hours in accordance with the assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Required Qualifications A Master’s degree in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, or a related design field. Proficiency with industry‑standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite. Preferred Qualifications A MFA in Visual Communication Design, Graphic Design, or a related field. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and evidence of strong teaching skills. Professional practice experience in design, advertising, or a related creative field. Salary and Benefits Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Compensation ranges depend on qualifications and will not exceed $6,221 per month for Lecturer B rank and $15,211 for Lecturer D rank.
