Maintenance Specialist 1

Performs intermediate skilled work on a variety of construction, maintenance and repair projects. Operates specialized equipment in connection with task. Does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Responsibilities Responsible for performing routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure the proper functioning and safety of a facility Performs minor repairs like painting, drywall patching, and fixing doors while identifying issues requiring specialized technicians when necessary Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs Plans repair work using building's blueprints or equipment manual as needed Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. Performs routine maintenance on building and infrastructure systems Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities and amenities Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Supervisory Responsibilities None Skills Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers Knowledge of general carpentry and repair Ability to use hand tools and power tools Excellent organizational and time management skills Be familiar with safety protocols and regulations to avoid hazards and injuries Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent; entry level position, no experience required; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities and other competencies necessary for the position.
