Senior AccountantWe're hiring a Senior Accountant to join our finance team, reporting to the Director of Finance. In this role, you'll join a lean, high-impact finance team that supports a growing multi-entity organization spanning insurance operations and international subsidiaries. You'll own key pieces of the monthly close process, serve as a primary point of contact for the annual audit, and help build the processes and controls that let finance scale with the business. This role has real ownership and visibility in a fast-moving company. Detail oriented, naturally curious, self-starting problem solvers will thrive here.What You'll Be DoingOwn key components of the monthly close process, including cash reconciliations, prepaids, accruals, journal entries, and financial statement reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely resultsPerform day-to-day revenue operations, including reviewing and documenting new and amended contracts, applying appropriate accounting guidance, tracking premiums, commissions, claims, and related fees, maintaining contract records, and ensuring contracts tie to the general ledgerManage the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections follow-up, cash application, and aging review, and continuously improve AR workflowsAccount for multi-entity activity, including intercompany transactions and reconciliations, consolidation support, and international subsidiariesManage the Deel platform for international employees and contractors, including payment processing, funding, reconciliation, and related accountingPrepare GAAP financial statements and management reporting, including variance analysis and ad hoc requests from leadershipResearch technical accounting matters under US GAAP and document conclusions in clear accounting memosLead day-to-day annual audit execution: prepare PBC schedules and supporting analyses and serve as a primary contact for external auditorsAssist with building the annual budget, including gathering inputs, developing schedules, and supporting budget-to-actual analysisOversee accounts payable: review and approve AP processing, manage vendor setup, and own 1099 complianceDesign and improve finance processes, internal controls, and automation within Sage Intacct and related toolsWork closely with legal, tech, and sales departments on operations and data integrityWhat You'll NeedBachelor's degree in Accounting4–8 years of accounting experience, ideally a combination of public accounting (audit) and private industryStrong working knowledge of US GAAP and month-end close processes, and the ability to research and apply technical accounting guidanceExperience preparing financial statements and financial reportingAdvanced Excel skillsExceptional attention to detail - your reconciliations tie out and you catch what others missCuriosity and strong problem-solving skills: you want to understand why a number moved, and you can work through ambiguous issues without a playbookA self-starter mindset with the ability to manage your own deadlines and work independently in a remote environmentClear written and verbal communication with auditors, advisors, and non-finance colleaguesWhat's Great to HaveInsurance accounting experience (MGA/agency, carrier, reinsurance, or insurtech)Experience with Sage IntacctCPA license, or progress toward oneExperience with ASC 606 revenue recognitionMulti-entity, intercompany, and/or foreign currency accounting experienceExperience managing outside service providers such as auditors and tax advisorsExperience with Deel or other global payroll/contractor payment platformsBudgeting and forecasting experienceInterest in using automation and AI tools to streamline accounting workCandidates for this role must be located in the United States. Kansas City area candidates strongly preferred.$80,000 - $115,000 per year
