WCC Crew Supervisor 1 - North Puget Sound

Job Title Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) Crew Supervisor 1 (project position funded until 30 June 2027) Location North Puget Sound region: King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom counties. Schedule Field work 40 hours per week, Monday–Thursday, 7:00 am–5:30 pm. Optional alternative: Thursday–Thursday, 10‑hour days, six days off prior. Duties & Responsibilities Supervise and mentor a crew of up to five WCC members in natural resource assignments. Recruit, interview, select, and assign new crew members. Evaluate crew performance, provide feedback, and document performance issues. Track and complete conservation projects; monitor use of materials, tools, and equipment. Communicate progress with project sponsors and WCC staff; manage project documentation, including timesheets, travel logs, safety and production reports. Ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment and state‑owned vehicles. Lead crews on restoration, recreational enhancement, and spike projects (25–75 % project time). Coordinate response deployments to local and national disasters as required. Qualifications Three (3) years of experience equivalent to WCC field work, young‑adult mentorship, or leadership (e.g., outdoor leadership, crew lead, field activity coordination). OR completion of a two‑year Forest Technology Vocational Program and one (1) year of field experience as a WCC crew member or related emergency response, hazardous spill, firefighting, or habitat restoration work. OR an associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field and one (1) year of field experience as a WCC crew member or related emergency response, hazardous spill, firefighting, or habitat restoration work. Military experience can substitute, year for year, for field experience. Valid driver’s license. Completion of a background check. Desired Qualifications Experience in supervising and training employees, natural resource conservation and maintenance work, and use of hand and power tools. Field skill certifications (e.g., Wilderness First Aid, Pesticide Operating License, Wildland Firefighter Red Card). FEMA Disaster Response Training (e.g., Intermediate Incident Command System, Introduction to NIMS). Employment Status Position is a project role, funded until 30 June 2027, and not eligible for telework.
