Senior Principal Scientist, Clinical Research

Merck seeks a Senior Principal Scientist to lead clinical development strategy and execution for investigational immunology compounds. The role encompasses late-stage trial management, regulatory submissions, and cross-functional collaboration across multiple U.S. locations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate preclinical and translational data to develop early clinical plans and IND applications
• Design and oversee conduct of clinical trials for investigational immunology drugs
• Analyze clinical study findings and prepare regulatory documents, reports, and publications
• Supervise clinical scientists and coordinate with cross-functional teams in commercialization, regulatory, and manufacturing
• Maintain scientific expertise through literature review, investigator identification, and external collaborations

Requirements

• M.D., D.O., M.D./PhD, or D.O./PhD degree
• Minimum 5 years clinical or development experience in academia or corporate settings
• Minimum 3 years industry experience in drug development or biomedical research
• Demonstrated scientific scholarship and achievement record
• Strong interpersonal skills and cross-functional team collaboration ability
• Prior phase 2 or 3 clinical trial design and execution experience preferred
