Position
Dublin San Ramon Services District is recruiting to fill four (4), Regular, Full-Time Maintenance Worker I/II positions in the Field Operations division of the Operations Department. These positions may be filled at the Maintenance Worker I or Maintenance Worker II level. Under direct or general supervision, learns and performs a variety of routine to complex duties in support of the Operations Department related to manual labor and semiskilled work in the preventative and corrective maintenance, custodial services, repair, and alteration of valves, meters, buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds; locates and marks underground utilities; assists Operations and Maintenance personnel in completion of treatment plant and field duties; and performs other related duties as required. IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who is reliable, proactive and eager to learn new skills in a technical, hands-on environment. A commitment to safety and the ability to follow established procedures are essential. They will have one or more years of experience in a water and/or wastewater collections facility; possess strong customer service skills and experience working with the public as well as have experience with the installation and maintenance of water meters; sewer collection system pipe maintenance and/or valve exercising. Possession of a California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) water distribution certification is desirable.

Training and Experience
The minimum qualifications described on class specifications represent the typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of the job. Any combination of education, licensing, and/or experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the job satisfactorily may qualify the candidates to be considered for open positions in the class specification.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade Maintenance Worker I
Possession of a Class C driver's license required by the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles, to perform the duties of the position. Continued maintenance of said driver's license in compliance with established District vehicle operation standards, and the ability to be insured for the operation of a vehicle/District vehicle in accordance with the terms and conditions of the District's insurance program are conditions of continuing employment. The CSRMA driving standards are included herein by reference.
Possession of a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care Provider certificate and First Aid certificate is required within one (1) year of employment.
If assigned to operate service truck cranes, possession and maintenance of a valid Service Truck Crane Operator certification of competency issued by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) is required. Maintenance Worker II
When assigned to field operations, possession and maintenance of a California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Water Distribution Operator D1 certificate is required upon appointment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class are required to participate in the District's Shave-on-Demand policy when required to wear respiratory protection or other safety equipment.
Required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Dublin San Ramon Services District employees are, by State and Federal law, Disaster Service Workers. The roles and responsibilities for Disaster Service Workers are authorized by the California Emergency Services Act and are defined in the California Labor Code. In the event of a declaration of emergency, any employee of the District may be assigned to perform activities which promote the protection of public health and safety or the preservation of lives and property. Such assignments may require service at locations, times, and under conditions that are significantly different than the normal work assignments and may continue into the recovery phase of the emergency. If a "Local Emergency" is declared during the employee's shift, employees will be expected to remain at work to respond to the emergency needs of the community. If a "Local Emergency" is declared outside of the employee's shift, employees must make every effort to contact their direct supervisor or department head to obtain reporting instructions as Disaster Service Workers. SELECTION PROCEDURE
The selection process may consist of an evaluation of the applicant's qualifications, appraisal board interview, written examination, practical exercise and/or internal department interviews, reference check and a review of prior performance evaluations. Upon completion of the selection process, an offer of employment may be conditionally based upon the successful completion of any employment verification, criminal background check and a pre-employment medical exam. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade Maintenance Worker I
- One (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, landscaping, and/or industrial equipment.
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance, repair and alteration of buildings, grounds, and facilities, and/or industrial equipment comparable to that of a Maintenance Worker I.
Possession of a Class C driver's license required by the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles, to perform the duties of the position. Continued maintenance of said driver's license in compliance with established District vehicle operation standards, and the ability to be insured for the operation of a vehicle/District vehicle in accordance with the terms and conditions of the District's insurance program are conditions of continuing employment.
