Job Title: Electrician I Location: Houston, TX 77095 Job Type: Contract (12 Months with Possible Extension) Shift: First Shift Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Electrician I / Electrical & Controls Assembly Technician to support the assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems used in gas turbine and compressor package manufacturing. This role requires strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation, and electrical codes. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, safety-focused, and capable of interpreting technical drawings while working independently or within a team environment. Key Responsibilities Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings. Assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment and control systems. Install and terminate wiring, conduit systems, cable trays, and associated electrical components. Perform electrical assembly work on rotating equipment packages, including gas turbines and compressors. Work with and understand the operation of: Motor Control Centers (MCCs) Fire & Gas Detection Systems Generator Control Systems Vibration Monitoring Instrumentation Identify and install electrical components including breakers, disconnects, starters, relays, overloads, timers, and control devices. Perform wire terminations and routing in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. Apply National Electrical Code (NEC), International Electrical Code (IEC), and hazardous area requirements, including intrinsically safe systems. Operate hand tools, air-powered tools, torque wrenches, measuring devices, and shop equipment required for production. Conduct electrical testing and document test results according to production standards and turbine engine assembly procedures. Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and assembly files. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Control, Parts Department, and Production teams to ensure efficient workflow. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; OR 10+ years of relevant industrial electrician experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical assembly, control panel wiring, industrial electrical systems, or rotating equipment manufacturing. Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints. Experience assembling, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment. Knowledge of NEC, IEC, hazardous locations, and intrinsically safe systems. Experience with conduit installation and wire terminations. Ability to identify and work with electrical components including breakers, disconnects, relays, starters, overloads, and timers. Proficiency working with wire sizes ranging from 18 AWG through 1/0 AWG. Skilled in using wire strippers, crimpers, cutters, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, and air-powered tools. Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing and assembly environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with gas turbines, compressors, or rotating equipment. Industrial manufacturing or OEM assembly experience. Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and instrumentation systems.
