The primary purpose of this position is to provide exceptional customer service at the Raleigh Central Services Office by assisting customers with the registration of vehicles in the State of North Carolina. This position requires strong technical, administrative, and customer service skills, as well as extensive knowledge of the North Carolina General Statutes, policies, and procedures governing the issuance of North Carolina titles and other official credentials.Key Responsibilities• Assist customers with vehicle registrations, title transactions, and the issuance of other North Carolina credentials.• Apply and interpret applicable North Carolina General Statutes, policies, and procedures related to motor vehicle titles and registrations.• Issue official, special, and personalized license plates in accordance with established requirements.• Process requests for crash reports and provide customers with access to driving and vehicle registration records while adhering to applicable Federal Privacy Act requirements and confidentiality guidelines.• Accept and process payments for driver license penalties, fees, and other applicable transactions.• Provide accurate, courteous, and professional service to customers while ensuring transactions are completed efficiently and in compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the manager to support the effective and efficient operation of the unit.The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: working knowledge of DMV general statutes, policies and procedures, and/or working knowledge of vehicle registration procedures.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesExperience with a personal computer and mainframe database.Experience using a calculator, workstation laser printer, fax machine & copier.Experience recording, compiling, summarizing & analyzing data.Experience examining titles, reviewing information to determine compliance with applicable laws, rules, or regulations to resolve a complex or special processing matter.Experience explaining & interpreting policies, regulations, & programs; and balancing a cash drawer.Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC08 $39,244 - $68,679In accordance with the Governor's Executive Order 303, our agency supports second-chance employment for individuals who were previously incarcerated or justice-involved.
