Job Summary

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of the housekeeping team at a resort in Key West. This role ensures housekeeping staff are properly assigned, supported, and held accountable for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, quality, and guest service.

The Housekeeping Manager is a hands-on leader who works alongside the housekeeping team, monitors daily performance, conducts room inspections, addresses operational issues, and ensures rooms and resort areas are serviced efficiently and according to established standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide daily leadership to a housekeeping team of approximately 15 team members in a busy resort environment.
• Supervise, coach, and support housekeeping staff to ensure daily cleaning and service expectations are consistently met.
• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, productivity, and overall performance.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and assigned areas to ensure they consistently meet the resort’s cleanliness, presentation, and brand standards.
• Ensure all housekeeping services are performed in accordance with established resort standards, procedures, and quality expectations.
• Address room deficiencies promptly and ensure corrections are completed after rooms are released for guest occupancy.
• Handle guest complaints and housekeeping-related concerns professionally and promptly, working with the team to resolve issues and ensure guest satisfaction.
• Maintain effective communication and coordination with Front Office to ensure accurate room status, timely room readiness, special requests, and a smooth guest arrival experience.
• Communicate closely with Engineering regarding maintenance issues identified in guest rooms and common areas and follow up to ensure issues are addressed.
• Conduct daily team meetings or briefings to communicate assignments, priorities, special requests, and operational updates.
• Train, coach, and mentor housekeeping employees on cleaning procedures, service standards, safety practices, and company expectations.
• Recognize and reinforce strong employee performance while promoting a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
• Ensure employees follow established safety, sanitation, chemical-handling, and housekeeping procedures.
• Assist with managing daily staffing needs and adjusting assignments as business levels and operational priorities change.
• Monitor team productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising cleanliness, quality, or guest service.
• Maintain accurate housekeeping records, including inspections, room status, productivity, attendance, and other required documentation.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of progressive housekeeping experience, including at least 2 years as a Housekeeping Manager.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in team supervision, staff training, and management of housekeeping teams.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with floor care equipment preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
