Job Title Math, Physics, or Computer Tutor – Learning Center (Pocono) Summary Part‑time (approx. 10 to 25 hours per week), located at the Pocono Campus in Tannersville, PA. Tutors assist students with mathematics courses from Pre‑Algebra to Calculus I and beyond, or with C++ programming and intermediate MS Office. Responsibilities Provide individualized or small‑group tutoring to help students gain a deeper understanding of course material, develop effective learning strategies, and engage in critical thinking. Meet with students on campus and/or online. Receive College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) training and obtain certification within one year of employment. Participate in staff meetings, ongoing professional development, and promptly respond to correspondence from Learning Center staff. Maintain complete and accurate tutoring records. Additional responsibilities may be assigned. Qualifications For math tutors: thorough understanding of mathematics; ability to tutor introductory statistics, physics, and MS Office is a plus. For computer tutors: proficiency in C++ programming; knowledge of HTML, basic networking, microcomputer operating systems, and data structures is a plus. Associate degree or higher in a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Grade of B or higher in each course that the candidate intends to tutor. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical abilities; interest in working with a diverse population of students; patience; and a genuine desire to help others learn and succeed. Previous experience as a peer or professional tutor is a plus but not required.
