Join Us as a Power Systems Field Service Specialist

JDC Power Systems, LLC is looking for a hands-on professional to keep our customers’ electrical infrastructure running reliably. In this FSR3-level role, you’ll be the expert arriving on site to diagnose, repair, and commission equipment that keeps facilities powered and productive.

A Day in the Field

• Diagnose and repair transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and PLC-based control systems.
• Run system checks and resolve technical issues to limit downtime and restore safe, efficient operation.
• Support startups and commissioning to confirm performance to customer specifications.
• Serve as the primary on-site contact, clearly explaining findings and next steps to customers.
• Deliver basic operator training and capture thorough service notes, test results, and performance feedback.
• Leverage remote troubleshooting tools when appropriate to accelerate resolution.
• Coordinate with fellow technicians to ensure timely, high-quality service delivery.
• Follow company safety practices, OSHA guidance, and industry standards; participate in ongoing safety training and maintain current safety credentials.

What You’ll Bring Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred.
• Helpful additions: NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or other relevant technical certifications.

Experience

• 3–5 years in a field service capacity focused on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
• Background in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including transformers and breakers.

Skills & Competencies

• Exceptional troubleshooting and structured problem-solving abilities.
• Comfort with field service management tools, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• Clear, customer-friendly communication and the ability to simplify complex technical topics.
• Self-directed with strong prioritization skills in dynamic field environments.

Extra Competencies

• Low- and medium-voltage systems experience.
• Foundational exposure to PLCs, SCADA, and protective relays.

Travel, Location, and Other Requirements

• Location: Various.
• Expect frequent travel with overnight stays to customer sites and JDC locations across the U.S.
• Regular day-to-day or weekly trips across the Region to customer sites and internal field service locations; occasional visits to Hackettstown, NJ to meet with leadership.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong safety mindset and dedication to customer satisfaction.
• Comfort using standard test gear (e.g., multimeters, breaker test sets).
