Position Title: Compensation & Benefits Specialist / HR Business Partner

Industry: Education / Nonprofit

Location: Washington, DC - Onsite 2 days per week

Assignment Type: Contract – 3 months

Pay: $32.00 – $38.00 / Per Hour (depending on experience)

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Standard hours are either 8:00 AM–4:00 PM ET or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET, with some flexibility needed to collaborate with international teams across different time zones.

Job Description:

Addison Group is seeking a Compensation & Benefits Specialist / HR Business Partner to support our client's Human Resources team during a period of team transition and increased workload ahead of open enrollment. This contract position will provide hands-on support across payroll, benefits, and select HR functions while partnering with colleagues and leadership in the U.S. and internationally.

The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional with a strong background in U.S. payroll and benefits who can operate confidently in a global environment. An interest in international education and our client's mission is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and support U.S. payroll activities while collaborating with an international team responsible for payroll processing.
• Assist employees and HR partners with benefits administration and open enrollment activities.
• Help ensure benefits elections and related employee information are accurately maintained.
• Partner with HR leadership and stakeholders to address payroll and benefits questions in a timely, professional manner.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues located in different countries and time zones.
• Provide general HR support as needed, including occasional assistance with recruitment-related activities.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling employee, compensation, payroll, and benefits information.
• Support the HR team through organizational transitions and other time-sensitive initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 4–5 years of professional experience working with payroll and benefits.
• Strong understanding of U.S. payroll processes and benefits administration.
• Experience working with UKG and Oracle or comparable payroll/HR systems.
• Ability to communicate professionally and build effective relationships with leaders and employees.
• Comfortable working with international teams and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a contract environment.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• Experience in the nonprofit or education sector is a plus.
• Previous recruitment experience is helpful but not required.
• Interest in international education and our client's mission is preferred.

Additional Details:

• Contract assignment is expected to last approximately 3 months.
• The role is being added to provide immediate HR support during a period of team transition and ahead of open enrollment.
• A permanent opportunity may become available, and the contractor may be eligible to apply if/when that position is posted.
• Target start date is ASAP.
• Typical schedule is 40 hours per week.
• Overtime is not expected and would require prior approval.
• Some scheduling flexibility may be necessary to accommodate collaboration with global offices.
