Senior Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant based in the United States.

This role supports accounting activities related to acquisitions across home health and hospice operations. You will perform advanced accounting work, prepare financial analyses, and help integrate newly acquired entities into established financial processes. The position combines acquisition accounting, healthcare-specific accounting, regulatory reporting, internal controls, and audit support. You will work closely with Finance, Revenue Cycle Management, Operations, Sales, external consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and compliant financial information. The role offers exposure to multi-entity accounting and a range of healthcare business lines, with opportunities to contribute to process improvements. Success will require strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Accountabilities:

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, financial schedules, and supporting documentation for newly acquired entities.
• Assist with purchase price allocations, opening balance sheet setup, and integration of financial data following acquisitions.
• Coordinate with internal teams and seller accounting contacts to collect financial information, investigate discrepancies, and support transition activities.
• Support acquisition-related activities involving cash, working capital, accounts receivable validation, and transition service agreement tracking.
• Prepare hospice revenue and expense entries and reconcile billing and reimbursement-related accounting activity.
• Monitor hospice cap activity, prepare supporting documentation, and assist with cap-related financial analysis.
• Partner with Revenue Cycle Management and Accounts Payable teams to ensure accurate recording of room and board and other healthcare-related transactions.
• Support accounting activities across home health, community care, palliative care, and private duty operations as acquisition volume and business needs require.
• Assist with Medicare cost reports for home health and hospice, including compiling financial, statistical, and operational data and preparing supporting schedules.
• Contribute to analysis of cost report results, reimbursement considerations, and relevant trends.
• Maintain documentation supporting internal controls and compliance programs and assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives designed to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and enhance accounting processes.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Sales, and other teams to provide accurate financial information and support budgeting, forecasting, and analytical activities.
• Communicate financial findings, updates, and recommendations clearly and professionally to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support additional regulatory reporting, training, professional development, and other accounting activities as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• CPA certification or progress toward CPA is preferred.
• 3+ years of professional accounting experience, with healthcare, home health, or hospice experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with acquisitions, integrations, or multi-entity accounting is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare-related accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative, proactive, and service-oriented approach to working with cross-functional teams.
