For more than a decade, SMG Speed has supplied parts for some of the baddest performance builds in the country. Now we’re growing once again and adding another performance-parts sales professional to our winning team.

This is a relationship-building sales career for someone who eats, sleeps, and lives the high-performance automotive industry. You will help enthusiasts plan better builds, solve real problems, and become the person they call for the next part—not just today's order.

$35,000 BASE + COMMISSION

THE OPPORTUNITY

Build a book of business in an industry you already live.

SMG Speed is looking for an experienced salesperson with deep performance-parts knowledge to serve customers in our Texas shop and across our online channels. The right person will develop long-term pipelines, follow builds over time, create repeat business, and actively find new opportunities in the enthusiast community.

This is not an order-taker position. It is consultative selling, troubleshooting, follow-up, and relationship management for hot rodders and fellow enthusiasts.

What you will do

Assist walk-in customers with performance-parts sales and general customer service.

Handle sales conversations by phone, email, website channels, and social media.

Understand each customer's vehicle, current combination, goals, budget, and timeline.

Recommend compatible parts and complete solutions rather than isolated products.

Develop and manage an active pipeline of prospects, open quotes, current builds, and repeat customers.

Follow up regularly to make sure customers have what they need for each stage of their build.

Monitor relevant social groups, pages, clubs, and enthusiast communities for opportunities to represent SMG Speed and sell its products.

Create and participate in useful, credible social content.

Meet established sales quotas after a 90-day ramp-up period.

Represent SMG Speed professionally at the counter, online, and potentially at shows or automotive events.

Who this role is for

You are outgoing, technically curious, and already known as a performance resource in your circle. You enjoy talking with customers, asking the right questions, and helping people make smart decisions. You understand that the best sale is often the beginning of a long customer relationship.

Minimum qualifications

Four or more years of automotive parts or high-performance industry experience.

Prior sales experience; experience in a commissioned sales environment is strongly preferred.

Working knowledge of multiple automotive platforms and a strong technical understanding of common performance modifications, supporting components, and how systems work together.

Strong phone, written, online, and face-to-face customer-service skills.

Proficiency with social media and confidence engaging in automotive groups, pages, clubs, and communities.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships, manage follow-up, and develop repeat business.

Dependable organization, accurate communication, and comfort working toward a sales quota.

Ability to represent SMG Speed professionally in customer-facing settings.

Helpful, but not required

Ownership of an enthusiast or modified vehicle.

Hands-on installation or mechanical experience.

Existing relationships within local or online enthusiast communities.

Experience attending, promoting, or selling at automotive shows and events.

Driving and professional mechanical work are not requirements of this position.

COMPENSATION

$35,000 annual base salary

Plus uncapped commission. A successful first-year representative can earn total compensation exceeding $100,000. Earnings depend on sales performance and are not guaranteed.

SCHEDULE

Customer-first availability

Core shop hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Central, and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The role also requires reasonable online responsiveness when customers are actively shopping.
