Responsibilities

Why This Role

This position is part of a Major Case Unit handling large-loss and high-exposure commercial general liability claims, including New York Labor Law claims. The role works closely with legal and claims teams and has authority to make claim decisions.

What You’ll Do

• Manage large-loss and catastrophic CGL claims, including New York Labor Law (Sections 200, 240, 241)
• Investigate claims, identify coverage issues, liability defenses, and risk transfer opportunities
• Review construction contracts, indemnification agreements, and insurance policies to determine coverage priority and risk transfer
• Work with defense counsel to manage litigated claims through resolution
• Evaluate liability, damages, and exposure using pleadings, medical records, depositions, and expert reports
• Negotiate claim resolution through settlement, mediation, or trial preparation
• Set and adjust indemnity and expense reserves
• Interview insureds, claimants, witnesses, and experts
• Process indemnity and expense payments
• Attend hearings, mediations, trials, and settlement conferences as needed

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of experience handling commercial general liability (CGL) or BOP liability claims
• 5+ years of experience handling New York Labor Law claims, including litigated claims with exposures of $500,000+
• Bachelor’s degree required; JD and active attorney license preferred
• Experience reviewing insurance policies, coverage issues, and construction-related contracts
• Experience managing litigation strategy and motion practice for construction liability claims in New York
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage a high-exposure claims caseload
• Experience using claims management systems and standard business tools
• Ability to travel as needed

• Licensing Requirement: Candidates must hold an active adjuster license or be willing and able to obtain and maintain all required state licenses. The company will support the licensing process, including training and compliance with ongoing continuing education requirements.
