Occupational Category: Health Care, Human/Social Services Salary Grade: 38 Salary Range: $147,153.50 to $294,307 annually Employment Type: Part-Time (50%) Appointment Type: Permanent Location: 6007 Fair Lakes Road, East Syracuse, NY 13057 Schedule Workweek: Monday – Friday Hours per week: 20 Workday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (No flextime, no overtime, no compressed week, no telecommuting) Duties and Responsibilities Psychiatrists are an essential part of the Article 16 Clinic behavioral team. They provide comprehensive psychiatric treatment services built on the principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care. As medical doctors, psychiatrists are responsible for ensuring that all services are integrated to promote physical health and recovery. Psychiatry has become an integral component of modern mental health treatment and psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers. As a Psychiatrist2, you will: Independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care and treatment services to assigned individuals. Provide clinical supervision and guidance to other medical personnel or clinicians, and may supervise and/or manage psychiatric care and treatment services for an assigned facility or program. Advise residential multi‑disciplinary treatment teams on implementing psychiatric plans of care. Serve as a practicing specialist, providing differential diagnoses and diagnosis of co‑occurring disorders to advise specialized plans of care. May oversee services for a treatment program, a group or individuals, a facility or a unit. Additional Requirements: Provide after‑hours and weekend on‑call medical telephone consult on a rotating basis. Provide coverage of psychiatric care for individuals living in a Comprehensive Adult Transitional Home. Assist with physician coverage as needed in sister regions. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a license to practice medicine in NewYork State and board certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Additional Comments This title is part of the NewYork Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NYHELPS). The HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment. Employees hired under NYHELPS are expected to have their permanent non‑competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status within one year of permanent appointment. Employees may be appointed as permanent competitive employees through Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, or by transfer from a currently eligible NewYork State employee.
