Build Something From the Ground Up

Since 1986, Corcoran Consulting Group has helped ophthalmology practices with coding and reimbursement. Now we’re launching a payer contracting division, and we need the leader who builds it.

As our first Director of Payer Contracting, you’ll create the roadmap: the services, the client base, the processes, and eventually the team. Every contract you negotiate directly affects what our physician and surgery center clients are paid for the care they provide.

Who You Are

You’re a numbers person with a builder’s mind. You can spend the morning modeling reimbursement across hundreds of procedure codes and the afternoon pitching a surgeon-owner on why their contracts are costing them money. You see a blank page as an opportunity, not a problem. You don’t need a playbook. You’d rather write one.

What You’ll Do

• Lead new contracts, renewals, and renegotiations with commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid managed care payers.
• Model reimbursement across payers, procedures, and sites of service (office, ASC, hospital outpatient) to build data-driven negotiation strategies.
• Review contract terms such as escalators, timely filing, carve-outs, termination, and amendment rights.
• Advise physicians and ASC leaders on which payers to join, keep, or leave.
• Bring in new clients through discovery calls, proposals, webinars, and educational content.
• Build the division’s tools, templates, and benchmarks.
• Hire, train, and lead the contracting team as the division grows.
• Stay current on CMS rules and payer policy changes.
• Travel frequently to meet with physician and ASC clients nationwide, including Texas, Mississippi, Colorado, and New York.

How You’ll Start

For your first six months, you’ll work alongside our senior consultants to learn our clients, partners, and approach before taking the lead.

What Success Looks Like

In your first year, you’ll have a defined service offering, a growing client roster, measurable rate improvements for the clients you’ve negotiated for, and a plan for the team you’ll build next.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of payer, managed care, or provider contracting experience (provider or payer side).
• A track record of personally negotiating rates with payers such as BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana.
• Strong command of reimbursement methods: percent of Medicare, RBRVS, ASC payment, and carve-outs.
• Advanced Excel and a head for numbers.
• Confidence across the table from physicians and payer executives.

Nice to Have

• Ophthalmology or ASC experience
• Consulting or multi-client background
• Leadership or hiring experience
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or finance
