Minimum Qualifications: Valid state department of education license/permit. Meets all mandated state/federal criteria (approved degree, requisite education credit hours, or accepted score on an authorized professional standards test). Behavioral management skills substantiated by training or work experience; duties may require agility, physical strength, and stamina for students with problem behavior or physical assistance needs. Complies with drug‑free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures. Demonstrates dependability and flexibility; reacts to interruptions and emerging priorities effectively. Embodies high ethical standards and integrity; accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct. Exhibits consistent, impartial and resourceful critical‑thinking skills. Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse/neglect, CPR, and/or first aid training as a condition of employment. Essential Functions Works effectively with minimal supervision; performs tasks efficiently to meet deadlines. Provides support services including student assistance with daily living activities, behavior management, discrete trial training, instructional support, social skills training, and task redirection. Performs duties related to Braille, classroom, intervention, special education (including IEP implementation), and S.I.T. roles as assigned. Takes seat assignments, attendance, and ensures students have materials; authenticates student permission to leave the room. Contributes to a positive work environment, maintains professional appearance, punctuality, and confidentiality of privileged information. Prepares and maintains accurate records; submits required paperwork on time. Attends training and in‑service programs; maintains applicable credentials and complies with state licensure requirements. Maintains high expectations for conduct; follows district protocol and state law regarding bullying, discrimination, inappropriate behavior, and suspected child abuse/neglect. Assists with unexpected or urgent situations as needed; helps implement workplace initiatives that advance district goals. Working Conditions Physical tasks such as bending, leaning, climbing, balancing, and reaching. Exposure to adverse weather, temperature extremes, airborne particulates, chemical irritants, electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, loud sounds, and slippery surfaces. Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, communicable diseases, aggressive or disruptive individuals, and lifting heavy supplies or equipment. Operating or riding in vehicles; working near active vehicular traffic. Performing strenuous repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
