Learning Commons Graduate Assistant - Supplemental Review Sessions

Background The Learning Commons provides centralized academic support for University of Cincinnati students. We bring together best practices in teaching and learning with hundreds of outstanding Peer Educators to create flexible academic success programming. This position will support the Supplemental Review Sessions (SRS) program, including the Math and Science Support (MASS) Center drop‑in study table tutoring. Responsibilities Administrative Support: Assist with the compilation and organization of SRS material on Canvas, attendance tracking, observations, weekly communications, timekeeping, and other administrative tasks as necessary. Training: Assist with the training of SRS Leaders, MASS Tutors, and Coordinators; identify areas where additional training is beneficial, and develop training materials. Supervision: Provide observation feedback to SRS Leaders and MASS Tutors, assist with supervision of SRS Coordinators, handle disciplinary issues and employee professional development, and assist with staffing oversight and scheduling. Assessment: Evaluate usage, effectiveness, and student satisfaction of the SRS program and MASS Center through weekly usage data and surveys. General Office Support: GAs can schedule hours during all Learning Commons open times (Monday‑Thursday 8:00 am–8:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm). GAs may be asked to assist with additional office responsibilities such as opening, closing, on‑call shifts, focus group facilitation, and Learning Commons presentations as necessary. Office‑Wide Projects: GAs may collaborate with professionals from across the Learning Commons on office‑wide projects and initiatives, especially for projects that are of interest to GAs for professional development. Requirements All candidates for Graduate Student Assistant positions must be in good standing with their degree programs (e.g., 3.0 GPA+ and making adequate progress) and meet any eligibility criteria published by the Graduate College. Preference is given to candidates with a degree or experience in education or a STEM field. Required qualifications: Ability to work collaboratively as a team. Ability to work independently according to given guidelines. Ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Desired qualifications: Understanding of and experience with academic support programs. Interest in student engagement and active learning. Experience with assessment and data analysis. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word and Excel) and UC’s Learning Management System (Canvas). Compensation and Logistics Hours: This is a 10‑hour per week appointment. Duration: The position will last for one calendar year from July 2026 to June 2027. Pay: The position is a $9,000 stipend, averaging $19.56 per hour. Graduate Assistants are not required to work during university breaks, but may be paid separately for time worked during those weeks. UC is an E‑Verify employer. As a UC student employee of an Ohio public institution, you will not contribute to the federal Social Security system, except for Medicare contributions. Hourly Pay Rate: $9,000 stipend.
