Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring at least 1 year of inpatient experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
• Med/Surg patient population with centralized telemetry monitoring
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour options (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Floating required to units of equal or lesser acuity
• Unit includes a free-floating charge nurse and a house discharge nurse who floats across all departments

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient med/surg experience required
• Recent Epic charting experience within the past 6 months required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Skilled in respiratory care including nasal cannula use
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and respiratory support
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
