Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students with autism as a Special Education (ABC) Teacher for a self-contained classroom serving grades 3–5. This contract position begins November 6, 2026, and continues through the end of the school year, filling a vital maternity leave. You’ll inspire and empower a dedicated group of nine students each day, fostering growth and meaningful learning in a nurturing environment.

This in-person role offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00am to 3:15pm, totaling 36.25 guaranteed hours per week. Spend your school days at a lively elementary campus, guiding learners through individualized instruction and personal development in a self-contained autism program.

What you bring:

• Valid Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS-I) certification (State of Illinois)
• Prior experience working in self-contained special education classrooms—autism program experience is highly valued
• Strong background developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and collaboration with fellow educators, support staff, and families
• Creativity, adaptability, and a compassionate approach to diverse learner needs

What you’ll do:

• Provide tailored daily instruction and behavioral support for students in a self-contained classroom
• Develop, implement, and track progress on IEP goals
• Collaborate closely with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and motivating classroom culture
• Maintain attentive supervision and classroom structure throughout the school day
• Document student growth and communicate updates with parents and team members
