We are developing unique and differentiated ways to strengthen the Membership Model by connecting Card Members with Merchants that create opportunities to help drive our growth over the mid-to-long term.How will you make an impact in this role?The role will report to the Director, Product Line Strategy & Partnerships and serve as the primary relationship owner for Amex Offers' strategic third-party partnerships, including Rakuten, Cardlytics, and the Smart Offers portfolio. This leader will maximize the value of existing partnerships through strong relationship management, commercial execution, operational excellence, and cross-functional leadership while supporting evaluation of future partnership opportunities.ResponsibilitiesPartnerships:Develop and execute partnership plans that maximize the performance and strategic value of existing partnerships while aligning to Amex Offers business prioritiesServe as the cross-functional lead across Sales, Analytics, Product, Engineering, Finance, Marketing Operations, and Legal to drive successful partnership execution and resolve operational issuesOwn key third-party content partnerships in the US (Cardlytics and Rakuten)Own day-to-day relationship management, serving as the primary point of contact for partner leadership and internal stakeholdersIdentify opportunities to improve partner performance, operational efficiency, and commercial outcomesLead contract renewals, commercial commitments, TLM approvals, and ongoing governance activitiesOwn the Smart Offers Program, managing six strategic partnerships within the portfolioOwn day-to-day relationship management, serving as the primary point of contact for partner leadership and internal stakeholdersOptimize portfolio performance by improving partner engagement, commercial outcomes, and operational execution while identifying opportunities for measured program expansionLead contract renewals, commercial commitments, TLM approvals, and ongoing governance activitiesDefine, monitor, and communicate KPIs to measure partner health, commercial performance, operational effectiveness, and revenue contributionPartner with finance teams on invoicing, reconciliation, and commercial tracking processes.Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to identify and advocate for capabilities and enhancements that improve partner experience, operational efficiency, and Card Member valueIdentify opportunities to deepen existing partner relationships through expanded capabilities, new use cases, and commercial optimizationSupport global partnership opportunities and scalability where applicablePartnership Strategy & Portfolio DevelopmentMonitor the competitive landscape and emerging partnership models to inform future partnership strategySupport evaluation of new partnership opportunities aligned with Amex Offers strategic prioritiesSupport onboarding and integration planning for new strategic partnerships when applicableManage internal reviews and required approvals for external partnershipsQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:5+ years of experience in partnerships, strategic account management, relationship management, or business development, preferably within digital marketing, loyalty, media, or platform ecosystemsProven success managing strategic external partnerships, building executive relationships, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders to resolve complex issues and deliver commercial outcomesDemonstrated experience leading complex contract negotiations, renewals, and commercial structuring discussionsStrong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple partner relationships, balance competing priorities, and drive execution in a fast-paced environmentAbility to navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environmentStrong quantitative skills that enable the analysis of KPIs and generation of actionable recommendations with measurable valueStrong presentation and storytelling skills with the ability to communicate effectively to senior leaders and external partnersPrevious people leadership or coaching experienceCuriosity and a customer-first mindset, with an interest in building long-term strategic partnerships that deliver value for merchants, Card Members, and American ExpressExperience within loyalty, digital advertising, retail media, affiliate marketing, or card-linked offers ecosystemsPreferred QualificationsStrong presentation and storytelling skills with the ability to communicate effectively to senior leaders and external partnersPrevious people leadership or coaching experienceCuriosity and a customer-first mindset, with an interest in building long-term strategic partnerships that deliver value for merchants, Card Members, and American ExpressExperience within loyalty, digital advertising, retail media, affiliate marketing, or card-linked offers ecosystemsAbout the TeamAt American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared values and Leadership Behaviors, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues.
