About the Organization: Lines for Life is a regional non-profit that is dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide. We offer help and hope to individuals and communities and promote mental health for all. Our work addresses a spectrum of needs that include intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We educate, train, and advocate to prevent issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis levels. But when a crisis arises or support is needed, we are available 24/7/365 to intervene with personalized help. Community Engagement Coordinator Position Overview: The Community Engagement Coordinator supports Lines for Life's suicide prevention mission by building and sustaining relationships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), with a focus on culturally specific and underserved communities across Oregon. This position strengthens community connections to Oregon's suicide prevention resources, including trainings, conferences, crisis support, and culturally responsive programming, and supports community participation within Oregon's suicide prevention infrastructure. The Community Engagement Coordinator assists with the coordination and administration of community-based initiatives, including Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Culturally Specific Suicide Prevention Grant-funded programs, learning opportunities, and technical assistance activities. This role serves as a connector between community partners and statewide suicide prevention efforts, helping ensure community voices are reflected and culturally centered approaches are prioritized. Community Engagement Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Identify, build, and maintain relationships with Community-Based Organizations, with an emphasis on culturally specific providers and communities.
- Serve as a consistent point of contact for community partners, supporting ongoing communication and collaboration.
- Increase community awareness of and connections to Oregon's suicide prevention resources, including trainings, conferences, culturally specific programs, and crisis lines.
- Center engagement strategies around community-identified needs and barriers.
- Support the coordination and administration of community-based suicide prevention initiatives, including OHA Grant-funded programs when applicable.
- Coordinate and facilitate community-facing activities such as public information sessions, learning communities, and convenings.
- Provide coordination and administrative support related to OHA's Culturally Specific Suicide Prevention grantee reporting, participation tracking, and documentation.
- Provide technical assistance related to the Culturally Specific Suicide Prevention grant program implementation and engagement.
- Serve as a liaison between community partners and Oregon's suicide prevention infrastructure, including OHA, Oregon Alliance to Prevent Suicide, and other statewide partners.
- Participate in relevant statewide meetings, including quarterly Oregon Alliance to Prevent Suicide meetings.
- Support peer connection and information-sharing among community partners through facilitated meetings or learning opportunities.
- Lead internal planning meetings and cross-departmental collaboration as appropriate.
- Demonstrate the culture of Lines for Life by modeling behavior that supports the goals and philosophies of Lines for Life
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting culturally specific programs in community-based organizations or underserved communities.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and work effectively with diverse communities, including understanding the lived experiences, needs, and perspectives of the populations served.
- Experience with program coordination and grant-funded community initiatives.
- Experience with grant administration.
- Experience facilitating meetings, learning communities, or community convenings.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a proactive approach.
- Ability to travel throughout Oregon. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
- Strong bilingual (Spanish) preference.
- Familiarity with Oregon's suicide prevention framework or statewide prevention initiatives.
- Trained in crisis intervention or suicide prevention.
- Coursework in related fields (Community Development, Social Work, Public Health, Education, Social Justice, Communications, or related disciplines), or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
