Assistant Packaging Lead– Food Manufacturing

Location: Walker, MI
Shift: 2nd Shift
Pay: $17.00 per hour

Job Summary

Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking for a new opportunity? We're seeking a Assistant Packaging Lead to join our team in Walker, MI. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our operations, helping ensure snack products are packaged efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards in a fast-paced food production environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Packaging Operator, your core responsibilities will include:

• Machine Operation: Operate, monitor, and adjust bagging machines to ensure efficient and consistent packaging of products.
• Quality Assurance: Perform checks on weights, seals, labels, and codes to ensure all finished products meet quality and safety standards.
• Changeovers & Troubleshooting: Perform machine changeovers for different product runs and troubleshoot minor equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Direct and Organize:  Assist supervisors and team leads with guiding teams throughout a shift through motivation, assistance where needed, and providing overall reliable support to the assigned production line

In addition, you will also be expected to maintain production counts and documentation, follow GMP and OSHA standards, assist with palletizing and material movement, and keep your work area clean, organized, and safe.

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in manufacturing, food production, or machine operation preferred
• Leadership or team lead experience of at least 6 months 
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment

Skills:

• Attention to Detail: Critical for ensuring accurate weights, proper labeling, and overall product quality.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Helps with machine adjustments, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting.
• Teamwork & Communication: Important for collaborating with operators, material handlers, and supervisors to maintain workflow efficiency.
