Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Float Pool Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS BLS PALS NIHSS TNCC Must-Have: Ability to float within a designated zone Experience in a fast-paced emergency room setting Description: Registered Nurses are responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the emergency room. Nurses will be required to float to different facilities within the designated zone. Each facility may have different patient loads and case types. Nurse-to-patient ratios may vary based on acuity. Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes mellitus, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension. Nurses must be able to perform and assist in triage when necessary. All RNs will need to perform point-of-care lab testing and draw labs as required. Clinical support staff will assist nurses with various tasks throughout shifts. RNs are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips without dedicated monitor techs in the unit. Staff will collaborate with respiratory therapy, which is available 24/7 for necessary procedures. Weekend and holiday shifts are required every other cycle. There is no on-call requirement for this position. All travelers must be prepared to float within the region's emergency rooms as needed.
