About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Travel/Float)

Location

Garden City, KS (Float Zone – within 60-mile radius)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite | Every Other Weekend and Holiday Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in Emergency Room/ED settings across multiple facilities within a designated float zone covering a 60-mile radius
• Manage a patient assignment based on acuity with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5
• Assess, monitor, and interpret telemetry strips independently, as no monitor technician is on unit
• Administer standard emergency medications and drips; manage common diagnoses including abdominal pain, NSTEMI, stroke, trauma, pneumonia, hypertension, and diabetes
• Perform and interpret Point of Care lab testing as trained
• Collaborate with charge nurses, support staff, and respiratory therapy (available 24/7) to deliver safe, effective patient care

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Kansas
• Minimum certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC
• Emergency Room or ED nursing experience
• Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must be available and present in-state for the full week of orientation
• Must be able to float throughout the full 60-mile zone regardless of personal housing location; valid driver's license required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in a multi-facility or float pool environment
• Familiarity with STEMI and stroke recognition and send-out protocols in non-trauma-designated facilities
• Experience with varied ER settings ranging from low to moderate volume (6–49 patients per day)
