Locum Physician - Medical Oncology - Coverage - Grand Rapids, MI

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Position Type: Locum | Physician - Medical Oncology
Overview

Seeking a Locum Medical Oncologist for ASAP coverage at a busy outpatient cancer center in Grand Rapids, MI . The role primarily focuses on lung cancer , with some general/benign hematology support, and offers strong APP and specialty support.
Practice Highlights

Outpatient cancer center setting
Adult and geriatric patient population
Practice mix: ~60% Hematology | 40% Oncology
Primary focus on lung cancer
Supported by 6 physicians and 10 APPs (inpatient and outpatient)
Chemotherapy administered by Nurse Oncologists
EMR: Epic
Trauma Level II facility

Schedule & Coverage

ASAP start
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Call: 1 in 5
- Weekday evenings: telephone only
- Weekends: rounding with APP support
Estimated credentialing timeframe: 90 days

Clinical Volume

Outpatient: 8-16 patients/day
Inpatient rounding census: ~22 patients across 2 hospitals
Includes 4-5 new patients/day

Required Duties & Procedures

Tumor Board participation
Orders tests and imaging
Prescribes medications
FNA/Biopsy experience required

Candidate Requirements

Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Medical Oncology - REQUIRED
Active MI license - highly preferred (providers needing to obtain will be reviewed)
BLS - REQUIRED
