Drive team development and compliance with GAAP standards.Job DescriptionAccounting Manager OverviewThe Accounting Manager will oversee financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.Manage critical accounting functions, including journal entries, cash receipts, and general ledger integrity.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and coordinate audits.Supervise and develop accounting staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth.Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and donor restrictions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial processes and reporting.Utilize advanced financial software and tools to streamline operations.Contribute to strategic financial planning and forecasting initiatives.Act as a liaison with external auditors and tax professionals.Accounting Manager Key Responsibilities & DutiesReview journal entries and schedules for various financial categories, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Prepare detailed financial reports and cash flow projections for month-end close.Analyze contributions and grants, applying nonprofit GAAP standards.Maintain donor restriction schedules and coordinate with relevant teams.Coordinate audit processes, preparing necessary documentation and schedules.Provide leadership in recruiting, onboarding, and developing accounting team members.Implement and optimize enterprise financial software systems.Ensure timely completion of tax returns and compliance filings.Collaborate on special projects and provide solutions to financial challenges.Accounting Manager Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.Minimum of 6 years nonprofit accounting experience, including 2 years in management.Proficiency in SAGE Intacct or similar nonprofit enterprise software is essential.Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office required.Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle competing priorities.Effective communication skills to explain complex financial data.Experience with project management tools and techniques preferred.Ability to foster collaboration and teamwork within the finance department.
