Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse

The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran.

• Adhere to standards of practice and safe technique in preparation and administration of medications.
• Demonstrate understanding of age and population-specific characteristics that affect the health care needs of the Veteran.
• Actively participate in team huddles and meetings.
• Promptly recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance and effectively intervene as directed and when appropriate.
• Based on the patient's goals, provide patient and family health education, to include self management. prevention, and wellness.
• Interact and communicate appropriately with patients and family members.
• Participate within the secure messaging framework, typically as triage team member.
• Demonstrate professional behavior (e.g., respect, civility, ability to accept constructive criticism), effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adhere to principles of infection control, safety, and universal precautions.
• Maintain a clean clinic environment and stock assigned exam rooms daily.
• Possess knowledge of proper handling and pre-cleaning of reusable medical equipment.
• Demonstrate competence utilizing special equipment needed to perform job duties.
• Follow policy and procedures related to fire and disaster drills, safety and security measures.
• Demonstrate initiative in assisting other team members as appropriate.
• Assist in the orientation and competency validation of students, peers, and clerical staff.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:30 - 4:00PM
