Sr. IP Counsel, Chemistry | Small Molecule
Neurocrine Biosciences
Neurocrine Biosciences seeks a senior intellectual property counsel to develop and advance global IP strategies for small molecule programs across discovery through commercialization phases. The role provides strategic IP expertise on licensing, collaborations, acquisitions, and complex transactional matters to cross-functional and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic IP counsel on deal structure, licensing, exclusivity, and patent matters to business and legal stakeholders
- Lead IP analysis and due diligence for licensing, collaborations, acquisitions, and strategic transactions
- Develop and direct patent strategies for small molecule pharmaceuticals including invention identification and prosecution
- Drive opportunities to strengthen Neurocrine's IP position in collaboration with discovery and development groups
- Negotiate IP provisions in complex life sciences agreements and manage outside counsel globally
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years in-house and/or law firm patent experience with small molecules
- Registered to practice before US Patent and Trademark Office
- Graduate degree in organic chemistry or allied chemistry discipline; Ph.D. preferred
- Juris Doctorate and US state or DC bar admission required
- Deep expertise in small molecule patent preparation, prosecution, and strategic counseling
- Significant experience structuring and negotiating IP provisions in life sciences transactions
- Ability to translate complex patent issues into commercially focused business advice
