Accounts Payable Specialist - $20-25/hr. | Construction Industry | On-Site | Temp Assignment | Des Moines, IA

A well-established construction and infrastructure company in the Des Moines area is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to support its accounting team during a high-volume period. This full-time temporary assignment is expected to run from August through November 2026, with the possibility of becoming a permanent opportunity.

This role is ideal for an organized and detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing vendor activity, resolving discrepancies, and supporting project-based accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, code, and process invoices
• Match invoices to supporting documentation
• Maintain vendor records and resolve discrepancies
• Reconcile statements and respond to vendor inquiries
• Process payments, reimbursements, and check requests
• Maintain organized accounting records
• Prepare basic reports and assist with special projects

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous accounts payable or accounting experience
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience with Sage/ Sage 300 software preferred
• Strong communication and data-entry skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Schedule

• Full-time, Monday through Friday
• Flexible scheduling between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• Expected 3 month assignment from August through November
• On-site in the Des Moines area
