Storm Duty Requirements Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company’s rules and procedures. Position Concept Develops, implements, and maintains programs and work processes that support and improve the Fleet Services organization. Supports the implementation of technical specifications of fleet vehicles and associated equipment throughout Tampa Electric. Assists in the administration of Fleet Services databases and prepare business studies and analytical reports to contribute to and enable educated business decisions by company management. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Design specifications and modifications of standard and customized cars, trucks, trailers, and off‑road equipment to meet diverse operating requirements. Evaluate mechanical, structural, quality concerns and notate for future specification adjustments. (30%) Implement processing of new vehicle/equipment specifications into the Fleet Vehicle Management System (VMS). Monitor, update, and report on progress of ordered vehicles/equipment from receipt through in‑house customization to delivery. Validate finished products according to design specifications. (10%) Collaborate with management to research, evaluate and execute special projects related to business operations, such as budgetary and cost‑benefit analysis, and analysis of garage productivity, business efficiencies and process effectiveness. Present findings and collaborate with Fleet Manager to apply to business plans. (10%) Coordinate the initiation of an annual comprehensive replacement plan for vehicles and equipment. Manage specification adjustments based on current needs while retaining a standardization level. Coordinate any manufacturer in‑service training pertaining to new vehicles and equipment when applicable. (10%) Recommend any vehicle operational or safety options and equipment technology advancements to enhance productivity and utilization. (5%) Monitor progress between bid award and receipt of vehicles and equipment. Attend pre‑paint inspections for heavy equipment with vendors and internal customers. Coordinate preparation process of assets to meet company standards before placing assets in service. Inspect all vehicles and equipment during delivery phase per required specifications. Resolve all safety related items prior to service. (20%) Oversee asset disposal activities in accordance with established life‑cycle procedures, assess appropriate disposal options, and ensure efficient, condition‑based handling and timely progression through disposal process. (15%) Relationships Key Internal: Interacts regularly with all levels of management, administrative, and operations personnel; frequently communicates with internal customers. Key External: Frequent communication with suppliers and contractors. Qualifications Education Required: High school diploma or GED. Preferred: College degree. Related Experience Required: Minimum of 4 years experience in progressively more complex technical assignments with 3 years in a utility fleet environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Required: Knowledge of Tampa Electric’s SAP accounting system, vehicle management system, fleet equipment maintenance and design functions. Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SAP, and Outlook. Strong analytical skills. Excellent customer service orientation, planning and scheduling. Oral and written communication skills. Ability to travel for equipment inspections locally and out of state. Must operate equipment for relocation and movement of assets. Preferred: Familiarity with equipment application and specification requirements. Working Conditions Ability to work on irregular schedules, temporary assignments, overtime, and use of personal vehicles for business transportation. Ability to travel as needed.
