Job Overview A law firm seeks a Special Counsel to join its Health Law Practice Group in New York City, NY. The role involves substantial commercial contracting experience in managed care or the pharmaceutical supply chain, supporting a team advising national and regional health plans. Duties Lead and manage commercial contracting matters in managed care and pharmacy benefit industries. Draft, negotiate, and advise on PBM contracts and related services agreements. Oversee the contracting lifecycle for PBM procurements for health plans. Serve as a primary client contact, potentially requiring travel for meetings and negotiations. Counsel clients on health plan operations, regulatory frameworks, and contract administration issues. Independently lead client engagements, contract negotiations, and work streams. Requirements Experience in complex commercial contracts and transactional matters in the PBM or managed health industry. Familiarity with federal and state regulations of health plans and pharmaceutical supply chain providers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Professionalism in engaging with demanding clients. Ability to balance multiple priorities and responsibilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to collaborate effectively in team settings. Education JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school. Certifications Admitted to or eligible for admission in New York or Washington, DC. Skills Substantial transactional experience in managed care or pharmaceutical supply chain industries. Strong communication and organizational skills.
