Tax Director

Job Description Director of Tax | Austin, Dallas, Houston, New York, or Washington, D.C. | Hybrid I'm currently conducting a search for a Director of Tax with a Top 50 law firm to lead its U.S. and international tax function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an experienced tax professional with deep partnership tax expertise and a blend of public accounting and in-house experience. Location Options Austin, TX Dallas, TX Houston, TX New York, NY Washington, D.C. Schedule Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote) Key Responsibilities Lead the firm's U.S. and international tax strategy, compliance, planning, and risk management functions. Oversee complex partnership tax matters, including partner reporting, Schedule K-1s, PTET, multistate compliance, and withholding obligations. Manage international tax planning, transfer pricing, treaty matters, and cross-border structuring initiatives. Advise executive leadership on tax implications of strategic business decisions. Lead federal, state, local, and international tax audits and controversy matters. Drive tax technology, automation, governance, and process improvement initiatives. Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing tax team. Qualifications CPA required 12+ years of progressive tax experience Combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred Deep expertise in partnership taxation, pass-through entities, and multistate tax Experience with large, complex partnerships strongly preferred Prior leadership experience building and managing tax teams International tax experience preferred Compensation Base Salary: $230,000 - $340,000 Annual Bonus Comprehensive Benefits Package 401(k) with Company Match Generous PTO This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior tax leader seeking a strategic, high-impact role with significant visibility across the executive team and partnership.
