Tax Professional (Tax Preparer / Tax Associate / Tax Specialist)

Location: Elmira, NY

Position Summary

We are seeking Tax Professionals to join our growing Tax Services team. This position offers an opportunity for candidates at varying levels of experience to contribute to tax return preparation, tax planning, client service, and tax research while working alongside an experienced team of CPAs, Enrolled Agents, and tax professionals.

The successful candidate will utilize their education, training, and experience to assist clients with tax preparation and planning while continuing to develop professionally within the firm.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tax returns ranging from simple to complex based on experience and qualifications.
• Assist with or lead tax planning activities, including quarterly tax projections and estimate calculations.
• Prepare and support tax filings for individuals, partnerships, trusts, gift tax returns, and other entities as assigned.
• Interact with clients to gather information, clarify questions, and support tax planning initiatives.
• Research tax issues and assist with responses to client inquiries.
• Support tax-related projects and initiatives within the department.
• Collaborate with Financial Advisors and team members to identify planning opportunities for clients.
• Stay current on applicable tax regulations, tax code updates, and industry developments.
• Depending on experience level, assist with reviewing tax returns, mentoring team members, and supporting departmental initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or advanced degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
• Tax experience (ranging from entry-level to experienced tax professional)
• Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred or willingness and ability to obtain the designation as applicable.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service.
• Strong technical aptitude and experience with tax preparation, planning, and research software.
