The Wilmette Park District offers Summer Short-term staff the following benefits: Individual Seasonal Beach and Pool Pass, One (1) parking decal for Gillson Beach (over 16 years of age only), Individual Center Fitness Club Membership for June – August for the year of employment.Job Summary: The Gillson Beach Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of facility maintenance duties to effectively open Gillson Park for the summer and maintain it during the active season.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneEssential Duties/Responsibilities:Sand sift beach to maintain an even waterfrontWork in tandem with the excavator contractor to clear the vessel racks of sand and debrisBuild and maintain simple form racks for small vesselsRedistribute vessels into summer storage spacesRemove winter fencing and make adjustments to summer fence linesTransport winterized equipment to seasonal spacesClean and configure storage locations for alternate usagePerform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needsActively contribute to the Park District’s sustainability goalsSafety Responsibilities:Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidentsObey all Park District and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted at the facility and propertyPromptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions to the immediate supervisorAttend and participate in required safety trainingReview all accident and incident reports that occur under the area of responsibility and send them to the Human Resources/Risk Management divisionResponsible for administering minor first aid if neededRequired Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language):Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsEducation and/or Experience:Prior maintenance or operations experience is a plusMust be at least 21 years of agePhysical Requirements/Work Environment:Frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and taste or smellThe employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderateThe employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditionsThe employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme coldThe employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and risk of electrical shockRequired Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:Valid driver's license #J-18808-Ljbffr Wilmette Park District
