Registered Nurse (RN) | Behavioral Health Adolescent Unit

Position Overview Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center-Sioux Falls Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays (United States of America) Pay Range: $32.50 - $48.50 (actual pay dependent upon experience) Position Highlights: This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000. Nurses with 3+ years of experience: Every 3rd weekend and every other holiday. Nurses with less than 3 years: Every other weekend and every other holiday. Unit Overview The Avera Behavioral Health Adolescent & Child Unit is designed to be a structured and age-appropriate therapeutic environment for adolescents and children, helping them learn to understand problems, use healthy coping skills, and set and complete goals. You Will Enjoy This Setting If You Are an RN Enjoys working with children ages 5 to 12 and adolescents ages 13 to 17, as well as their families. Has a passion for helping patients with conditions such as addiction, anxiety disorders, ADHD, depression, or suicidal behavior. Possesses motivation to help create and deliver high-quality patient care in an energizing team environment. Key Unit Highlights Adolescent program expanding to 40 beds. Child unit: 14 beds. Adolescent residential: 8 beds. Opportunity to meet 70+ coworkers. Opportunity to change lives of both adolescents and children. One RN for a 7-8 patient ratio. Self-scheduling program. What You Will Do Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health-care team, and coordinating with other providers; provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends, and confer with physicians. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting patient condition, establishing nursing diagnoses, objectives, and interventions. Teach healthcare requirements by establishing patient-care goals and instructing patients, families, and friends to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills; answer questions and provide information and resources. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, re-evaluating objectives, and modifying plans. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to infection-control policies, medication administration procedures, controlled-substance regulations, organizational standards, and legal regulations; alert others to potential concerns. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient-care equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Keep supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) with an active state license (Board of Nursing) upon hire. Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience 1-3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
