Job Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a per diem child psychiatrist who is either board-certified or board-eligible to enhance our expanding behavioral health team. This unique position is within our Crisis Stabilization/EMPATH Unit, a 12-bed, dynamic program dedicated to delivering immediate and compassionate psychiatric care to individuals in crisis.

The EmPATH unit serves as a specialized, tranquil area within a hospital, focusing on swift mental health assessments and treatments for those facing crises. Unlike conventional emergency rooms, it emphasizes a calming atmosphere that alleviates anxiety and fosters healing.

This role presents a significant opportunity to assist a diverse and underserved community in the Inland Empire region while collaborating in a multidisciplinary setting at one of Southern California’s premier academic medical centers and a Level I Trauma Center.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct psychiatric care to patients within the Crisis Stabilization/EMPATH Unit.
• Engage in collaborative care alongside Emergency Department teams, medical and surgical specialists, and social services.
• Provide consultation-liaison psychiatry as required, including floor consultations.
• Supervise and mentor psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees.
• Work with a team of nurse practitioners, social workers, case managers, and peer support specialists to ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, innovation, and the establishment of best practices in emergency psychiatric care.
• There is also the potential for a Medical Directorship role based on experience and interest, which would involve overseeing clinical operations, supporting quality improvement efforts, and influencing the development of emergent psychiatric services.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting base compensation for this role ranges from $190 to $195 per hour, adjusted according to years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity bonuses and is subject to the specific compensation plans of the department.
