Machine Operator I - Packaging B Shift - LX

Performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass process products such as plastic bottles.

Essential duties and responsibilities include working from a production schedule, checking product produced every hour to ensure customer specifications are met, monitoring flow of product into processing machinery, tending machines to maintain product flow, working at different work stations as production needs require, checking finished product for possible defects, wearing all required personal protective equipment, assuring and participating in all plant safety/accident prevention policies, maintaining housekeeping of work areas, following all HACCP, GMP and product safety rules and guidelines, training current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed, learning new on the job skills as training opportunities become available, and attending monthly shift meetings.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or general education degree; or at least one year of manufacturing related experience and/or training or equivalent combination. Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Physical demands include manipulating product with both hands, standing on a solid surface for a minimum of twelve (12) hours, ascending and descending stairs and ladders, frequently lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds, demonstrating repetitive motion with a pallet jack and push/pull up to seven hundred (700) pounds throughout the day (12 hour shift), and performing job functions in temperatures of one hundred plus degrees during summer season and fifty degrees during winter season.

Training includes Lock Out / Tag Out, Bloodborne Pathogen, Hearing Conservation / PPE, Right to Know / Hazardous Communication, Emergency Evacuation, Ladder Safety / Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Forklift Safety, HACCP / GMP, HRIS Systems (Ceridian/WFC), and Corporate Training Requirements.

Level of authority includes reporting concerns to supervisor, holding for inspection any product that does not meet customer/company specifications, shutting down/stopping equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety, and contacting any member of management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working conditions or job environment.
