POSITION SUMMARY
The Attending/Assessment Clinician serves within the College clinic system by providing direct patient care and/or supervising chiropractic interns in the delivery of patient care. This role supports the clinical education of interns by facilitating instruction, assessment, and mentorship across required chiropractic competencies essential for successful practice. The Attending/Assessment Clinician also represents the Clinics and the College through active participation in professional, community, and institutional service activities. Ongoing professional development and engagement in evidence-informed clinical education are expected.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Teaching
- Facilitate experiential clinical learning aligned with program outcomes and CCE standards.
- Guide interns in clinical reasoning, patient communication, documentation, and ethical practice.
- Serve as a role model demonstrating professional conduct consistent with faculty expectations.
Assessment
- Participate in formative and summative assessment of intern clinical skills and competencies.
- Apply standardized assessment tools and rubrics to evaluate intern performance fairly and consistently.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support intern growth and readiness for practice.
Patient Care
- Deliver and/or supervise evidence-informed, patient-centered chiropractic care.
- Ensure appropriate case management, clinical decision-making, and continuity of care.
- Integrate risk stratification, red-flag identification, and referral when indicated.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FERPA (as applicable), institutional policies, and regulatory standards.
- Apply principles of clinical risk management, patient safety, and incident reporting.
- Adhere to standards and expectations set forth by the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Serve as an instructor for Chiropractic Clinical Clerkship (CCCI I–IV) courses.
- Serve as a member of the Chiropractic Clinical Clerkship (CCCI I–IV) clinical skills assessment team.
- Provide evidence-informed, patient-centered care within the College clinic system, including direct patient care and/or direct supervision of interns delivering care.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with clinic, institutional, and regulatory standards.
- Deliver high-quality clinical education and supervision that supports intern competency development and clinical readiness.
- Ensure compliance with applicable clinic policies, institutional procedures, and standards established by local, regional, and national accrediting bodies.
- Demonstrate appropriate professional behaviors and serve as a mentor and role model for chiropractic interns.
- Maintain working knowledge of Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) Standards H.2 and H.3 and apply these standards in clinical education and assessment activities.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of clinic and campus policies and effectively communicate and implement these policies with faculty, staff, and students.
- Participate in additional clinical, educational, or service activities as assigned by the Clinic Chief of Staff.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING
- Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from a Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) accredited college.
- Unrestricted Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners (TBCE) Chiropractic license, with no disciplinary actions, limitations, probation, or practice restrictions.
- Minimum of five (5) years of chiropractic practice experience; experience in a chiropractic teaching clinic and/or integrative healthcare setting preferred.
- Demonstrated familiarity with a patient-centered, evidence-informed model of clinical practice.
- Demonstrated personnel management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively multitask while maintaining high standards of work quality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, tact, fairness, and the ability to work effectively under stress and as part of a team.
JOB CONDITIONS
- Primarily one-on-one interaction with interns, patients, and clinic staff.
- Full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed to meet clinical and educational responsibilities.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform the essential functions of a clinical educator and healthcare professional, including verbal communication, clinical reasoning, documentation, and sustained attention.
- Ability to engage in clinical and educational environments that may require standing, walking, manual interaction with patients, and extended periods of concentration.
$15 - $17.5 per hour
