Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown/Medsurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: RN License required Certifications: BLS (AHA) required Must-Have: - Epic experience - Ability to manage 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (stepdown) Description: The unit is a 29-bed facility currently undergoing construction. All beds will be equipped for stepdown capabilities when completed. Nurse-patient ratios are 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for floor patients. The unit serves both floor and stepdown patients based on needs. It accommodates a diverse patient population, primarily with medical diagnoses. Registered Nurses will have orders to titrate various drips, including heparin, insulin, and others. Charge Nurses and House Supervisors are available 24/7. Charge Nurses may take assignments when the unit first opens. There are Clinical Associates (CAs) available to assist, with a ratio of 1 CA to 10 patients. Patients may require CPAP, BiPAP, and other respiratory support on the unit. A remote telemetry surveillance center is used for monitoring. Registered Nurses are not expected to read their own telemetry strips. Flexible scheduling options are available, though block scheduling is not guaranteed. Registered Nurses are expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Registered Nurses may be floated to other units as needed. Scrub colors are a combination of royal blue and white.
