ACCOUNTANT Full Time Professional Baton Rouge, LA, US Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually Bascom Hunter is a fast-growing aerospace and defense engineering company based in Baton Rouge, LA. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled Staff Accountant with expertise in government cost accounting to join our team. Bascom Hunter is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, government regulations, and compliance requirements specific to the aerospace and defense industry. Experience with Deltek Costpoint is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, analyze, and report financial data accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with government regulations and company policies. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Support the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and cost allocations. Ensure compliance with government cost accounting standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Prepare and review cost reports, invoices, and other financial documents for government contracts. Conduct audits and reviews of financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance. Collaborate with project managers and other departments to provide financial insights and support for decision-making. Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as needed. Continuously improve accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on government cost accounting. Proficiency in accounting software; experience with Deltek Costpoint is a plus. Understanding of government cost accounting standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
