Special Education Teacher – Secondary School Occupation: Special Education Teachers, Secondary School Location: Columbia, SC – 29204 Job Type: Full Time (30 Hours or More) – Posted: 05/27/2026 Position Overview We are seeking a state‑certified Special Education Teacher for an online high‑school setting. The teacher will deliver curriculum and individualized instruction in a virtual environment and meet the needs outlined in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Key Responsibilities Provide instruction, support, and guidance in an online environment for students with special education needs. Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies and services are provided. Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required special education documentation. Facilitate and lead collaborative IEP meetings, including annual and development meetings. Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments to meet accommodations and modifications specified by the IEP. Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom. Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals and objectives. Document all communications with parents and interventions with students. Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed. Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences. Maintain grade book, handle student placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators of concerns. Prepare students for high‑stakes standardized tests. Travel up to 20% of the time for face‑to‑face professional development and testing. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Active South Carolina Department of Education High School (9‑12) Special Education Teaching Certification. Clear required background check. Ability to work independently, 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with the secondary school age group. Experience supporting students using technology. Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in brick‑and‑mortar settings. Experience with online learning platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $53,000 per year plus eligibility for a performance bonus. Benefits include health coverage, retirement contributions, and paid time off, subject to company policy.
