Bus Assistant - Newtown, PA

The Bus Assistant supports the driver by ensuring students are safely boarded, seated, and monitored throughout transportation. Responsibilities Assist students with entering or exiting the bus safely. Ensure students use seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints. Serve as a role model, maintaining a positive attitude and good moral character. Monitor passengers to enforce safety regulations and conduct rules. Exercise student management through communication and discipline per company policy. Document and report violations or conduct concerns to appropriate authority. Assist passengers in evacuating the vehicle during emergencies. Ensure children collect their belongings when leaving the bus. Help the driver keep the vehicle interior clean and presentable. Complete required paperwork and submit on time. Project a neat and professional appearance. Report to duty on time and perform all duties safely. Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 18 years of age (19 for New York School Bus Assistants). Meet physical and medical requirements. Pass all required training and attend safety and in‑service meetings. Have excellent attention to detail and dexterity for restraints and wheelchairs. Relate well to children and manage pupil behavior effectively. Demonstrate high professionalism, diplomacy, and inter‑personal skills. Strong communication skills. Ability to lift and assist students when necessary.
