Authorization & Eligibility Clerk (Hospice)

Authorization ClerkThe Authorization Clerk is responsible for tracking and requesting patient authorizations for private insurance patients in the Home Health & Hospice; communicating with staff regarding authorization dates; following appropriate insurance guidelines for submittal, and following up on authorizations not yet received. HCHB experience preferred by not required. Hospice Commercial authorization experience requires.Schedule: Full-time (Remote) Mon-Fri - 40 hrs some overtime and on-call rotation evenings until 7pm and weekends 8am-7pmPay: $18 to $21 hourlyWe offer our team the bestMedical, Dental and Vision BenefitsContinued EducationPTO PlanRetirement PlanningLife InsuranceEmployee discountsEssential Duties:Track and request all authorizations for private insuranceMake modifications to improve the authorization process and relationships with provider under the supervision of the Billing ManagerDisseminate accurate information regarding authorizations to staffMinimize denied authorizationsSchedule authorizations upon receiptEnter staff schedules for private pay clients weeklyVerify insurance eligibility of clients on a monthly basisReport unauthorized visits monthlyAdhere to work schedule and maintain good punctuality and attendance recordAdhere to dress codePerform any other related duties and responsibilities deemed necessary by Supervisor.Position Requirements & Competencies:Insurance experience preferred - running/reading eligs, requesting authorizationsHCHB experience preferredHome health & Hospice experience requiredPossess knowledge of medical terminology and/or possess general medical backgroundAbility to work with little supervision and make appropriate judgmentsExcellent organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.Must be dependable, tactful and ability to follow orders.Demonstrate ability to manage multiple deadlines.Must have advanced computer skills.Must have excellent customer service skills.Must be proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word.
