General Maintenance WorkerO'Fallon Township High School District #203 is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Worker to support safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities for our students and staff. This position plays an essential role in maintaining a learning environment that is secure, efficient, and welcoming. The Maintenance Worker performs hands-on repairs, preventive maintenance, and responds to facility needs across District buildings and grounds. The work is varied and requires initiative, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and pride in quality workmanship. This role works as part of a facilities team under the direction of the Director of Facilities and contributes directly to the daily operation and long-term upkeep of District property.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Building Repairs & Carpentry: Building repairs and carpentry, doors, windows, walls, flooring, hardware, furniture, and structuresMechanical & Systems: Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, and building systems, routine maintenance, basic repairs, and helping prepare equipment for inspectionsPreventive Maintenance: Keeping equipment and systems running through scheduled inspections, lubrication, filter changes, belt adjustments, and seasonal prepSafety & Security: Monitoring safety equipment, maintaining emergency egress, supporting fire and health inspections, and securing buildings at end of dayGeneral Support: Driving district vehicles, delivering supplies, assisting custodial and grounds staff, and handling unexpected situations as they ariseQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's licenseFamiliarity in maintenance and repair procedures across the building trades, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, roofing, and related areasComfortable operating the hand tools and power tools commonly used in this workFamiliarity with building systems such as HVAC, fire suppression, security, and communicationsAbility to read and follow multi-step instructions, blueprints, and safety data sheetsBasic math skills; ability to comply with safety, building code, and ADA requirementsNo criminal violations that would prohibit public school employmentPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting over 100 lbs.Standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and working in confined or elevated spacesOutdoor work in varying weather conditions; occasional exposure to chemicals, fumes, and noiseSome positions may include weekend shifts or 24-hour on-call availabilityCompensation & Benefits:$18.25/hr, per the Service Workers CBAIllinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) defined benefit pension planMedical, dental, vision, and life insurancePaid time off
